- Open your active dry yeast packet (included) & dissolve it in 1-1/4 cups lukewarm water.
- Let it sit for about 2 minutes.
- Take your dough mix (included) and slowly mix it into your yeast mixture until you can make a ball out of it.
- Lightly flour your kneading surface. Now knead your dough ball for approximately 5-7 minutes.
- Take your dough ball & place it into a large greased bowl.
- Cover this bowl with plastic wrap that has been sprayed with nonstick spray.
- Let the dough sit for 30 minutes in a warm spot so it can rise.
Ready to TWIST and Shout?
- Preheat your baking oven to 425°F.
- Next spray some nonstick spray on your counter & pour out the risen dough.
- Take your dough and cut it into strips approximately 1-1/2” wide x 8” long.
- Next roll and stretch those strips until it is a 36”x1/2” long pretzel dough rope.
- Now shape your dough rope into the classic pretzel shape format.
Baking your Auntie Anne’s Pretzels
- Get 4 cups of hot tap water and pour them into a bowl (do not boil it.)
- Stir the baking soda into the hot water until it dissolves.
- Use nonstick spray to lightly coat your baking tray.
- Briefly dip each pretzel into the baking soda solution
- Put pretzels on a greased baking tray & salt to flavor. (BTW don’t salt your cinnamon pretzels!)
- Bake one tray at a time for just 5 minutes.
- Rotate the pretzel tray 180° and bake for approximately 2-5 minutes. Tip: you will know they are done when they are a delicious golden brown.
Who is hungry?
- If you would like, take melted butter and brush your freshly baked pretzels.
